Infrastructure work is FTTX's founding capability and largest service area. We provide the full range of civil groundworks for power and telecommunications networks: from initial trenching and ducting through to cable hauling, reinstatement, and traffic management. Every project is delivered by a team that has been doing this work — specifically this work — since 2009.
What's Included
Trenching
Open-cut trenching for power and communications cables, including backfill and compaction. We work to the exacting tolerances required by network operators and local authorities — including Controlled Activity consent conditions, where applicable.
Directional Drilling
Our Vermeer 10x15 directional drill is a specialist road-crossing tool. We use it where surface disruption is not an option — under roads, driveways, and services. Directional drilling is one of our highest-demand capabilities, particularly in congested urban corridors.
Traffic Management
Full traffic management planning and implementation, including TMP preparation, site traffic controllers, and coordination with Auckland Transport and other road-controlling authorities. We hold approved Auckland Transport partner status, which streamlines consent and approval processes for clients working in the AT network area.
Manhole & Ducting Installation
Precast and in-situ manhole construction, duct installation, joint bay preparation, and associated civil works. We work across standard and non-standard configurations as required by network design.
Cable Hauling — Power & Communications
Hauling of high-voltage power cable and communications infrastructure using our specialist cable trucks and winches. Our equipment and crew are set up to handle the weights, tensions, and safety requirements involved in active network cabling.
Concrete & Asphalt Placement
Concrete pours, asphalt reinstatement, and surface finishing to the standard required by road-controlling authorities and network operators. We manage our own plant for these operations, maintaining quality control from pour to finish.
Streetlight Foundations & Installation
Foundation preparation and installation for streetlight columns and associated infrastructure. We work alongside councils, local authorities, and principal contractors on both greenfield and replacement projects.
